Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester is seeking a motivated Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) to join our busy Surgical Services Department. This role provides direct assistance to surgeons during a wide range of procedures and plays a critical part in delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist program with CSFA certification and BLS, and be prepared to participate in ongoing call coverage in a fast-paced perioperative

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist program.
• CSFA certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct surgical assistance to the surgeon during operative procedures.
• Position patients to maximize surgical site exposure while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
• Assist with visualization of the operative field through tissue manipulation, retraction, suctioning, irrigation, and sponging.
• Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assist with wound closure, application of dressings, and management of drains and other postop devices.
• Maintain a sterile environment and promote patient safety throughout the surgical procedure.

This position provides direct assistance to surgeons during a wide variety of surgical procedures and plays a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

Position Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist program required
• Current Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Call Requirements

Participation in the call schedule is required, including a minimum of one weeknight per week and every fifth weekend, with a required 30-minute response time when on call.
