Prepares and maintains the surgical area, acts as first assistant during procedures, assists the RN in patient care, and helps train others within the department.

Qualifications:

The expertise and experience needed to succeed:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Course
• Four years’ experience as a Surgical Technologist
• Certification as a First Assistant from one of the following:
• National Board of Surgical Technician and Surgical Assistant (NBSTA)
• American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)
• National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA)
