Seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst in Major Crimes to analyze electronic media in support of the Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3). The Analyst examines hard drives of computers, storage devices, cell phones, PDAs, and any electronic device that may hold evidence for court use. Responsibilities include forensic analysis of digital information, evidence collection and handling, forensic and electronic discovery services such as evidence preservation, data recovery, tape recovery, electronic mail extraction, and database examination. The Analyst uses forensic tools and techniques to crack files and system passwords, detect steganography, and recover deleted, fragmented, or corrupted data from digital media. The Analyst maintains proper evidence custody and control procedures, documents findings in a form suitable for courtroom presentation, prepares comprehensive written notes and reports, and may be required to testify in federal or military courts as an expert witness.
