A Bachelor's degree and technical report writing skills are advantageous. This is a permanent on-site position located in Linthicum Heights, MD.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in digital forensic analysis.
• Experience supporting criminal investigations is required.
• Formalized training in computer science or forensics is preferred.
• Experience with major forensic tools such as EnCase, FTK, X-Ways, Axiom, Forensic Explorer, and Cellebrite.
• Formalized training in computer science or forensics.

Responsibilities

Education/Experience Requirements

HS Diploma and a minimum of 12+ years of experience, Associate’s degree and 10+ years of experience, Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience, Master’s degree and 6+ years of experience, or PhD with at least 3+ years of experience.

Clearance Requirements

Active Secret clearance as confirmed in DISS.

Certification Requirements (non‑expired)

• Digital Media Collector (DMC), Digital Forensic Examiner (DFE), Cyber Crime Investigator (CCI), and International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) certifications
• Certified Computer Examiner (CCE), Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), and GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE)
• Mobile device forensic tools: Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME), XRY, Oxygen Forensic® Certified Examiner (OFCE)
• Computer forensic tools: EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), X-Ways Professional in Evidence Recovery Techniques (X-PERT), Magnet Certified Forensic Examiner (MCFE), and data recovery or advanced data acquisition related certifications

Description

Seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst in Major Crimes to analyze electronic media in support of the Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3). The Analyst examines hard drives of computers, storage devices, cell phones, PDAs, and any electronic device that may hold evidence for court use. Responsibilities include forensic analysis of digital information, evidence collection and handling, forensic and electronic discovery services such as evidence preservation, data recovery, tape recovery, electronic mail extraction, and database examination. The Analyst uses forensic tools and techniques to crack files and system passwords, detect steganography, and recover deleted, fragmented, or corrupted data from digital media. The Analyst maintains proper evidence custody and control procedures, documents findings in a form suitable for courtroom presentation, prepares comprehensive written notes and reports, and may be required to testify in federal or military courts as an expert witness.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience conducting digital forensic analysis on a variety of media, including Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, and iOS.
• Experience in supporting criminal investigations.
• Experience writing technical reports detailing results of analysis.
• Experience with EnCase, FTK, X-Ways, Axiom, Forensic Explorer, Cellebrite, and other forensic tools.
• Formalized training in the areas of computer science, forensics, etc.
• Understanding of network protocols and networking concepts.
• Knowledge of and experience with virtual environments.
