Job Responsibilities

1. Manage the overall functions of the dietary department to ensure the provision of quality food service and nutritional care.
2. Assist with food ordering, storage, and preparation as designated by the food service director.
3. Make and record menu changes under the direction of the food service director.
4. Ensure safe food handling techniques are used.
5. Maintain standards for food preparation and quality of food service; use nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required.
6. Ensure dietary staff follows standardized recipes.

Qualifications

• Certification in food safety as required by state regulations.
• Graduate of dietary manager training program approved by the Dietary Manager’s Association and/or State Health Department preferred.
• Two to three years of supervisory experience in hospital or long-term care facility dietary department desirable.

Administrative Duties

1. Attend and participate in staff meetings and other departmental or center meetings, and sit on required committees.
2. Assist in developing and updating departmental procedures and policies.
3. Perform dietary staff job routines when assigned or as needed.
4. Perform miscellaneous work assignments as required.
