Job summary

Meadow Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Queens, NY seeks a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) to oversee the Dietary Department in a skilled nursing facility. The candidate will lead a dietary team, ensure food safety, and uphold NY DOH and CMS regulations.

Responsibilities include supervising meal service, coordinating therapeutic diets, collaborating with the Registered Dietitian and nursing staff, managing inventory and costs, and maintaining regulatory records.

Qualifications

  • CDM certification is mandatory.
  • Experience as Dietary Manager or Food Service Director in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of NY DOH and CMS dietary regulations.
  • Experience with therapeutic/modified diets in long-term care.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, infection control, and HACCP.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Dietary Department and ensure efficient meal service.

  • Monitor food inventory, ordering, receiving, storage, and proper rotation of food supplies.
  • Control food costs and minimize waste while maintaining quality standards.
  • Conduct dietary inspections, audits, temperature logs, sanitation checks, and other quality-control activities.
  • Maintain accurate dietary records and documentation required for regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in survey preparation and regulatory inspections.
  • Address resident and family concerns regarding meals and dietary services.
  • Conduct regular rounds of the kitchen and dining areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage temperatures, sanitation procedures, and kitchen safety practices.
  • Participate in QAPI and performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure department policies and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Provide leadership, accountability, and ongoing training to dietary employees.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) to oversee the daily operations of our Dietary Department in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing dietary services in a nursing home or healthcare setting, strong knowledge of New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulations, and the ability to lead a team while ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and resident satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Dietary Department and ensure efficient meal service.

  • Ensure compliance with New York State Department of Health (DOH), CMS, and applicable federal and state regulations.

Qualifications
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification required.

  • Experience with therapeutic and modified diets in a long-term care setting.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage a fast-paced department.
