Job summary

Confidential Healthcare Nursing Center in Mount Juliet, TN seeks a Certified Dietary Manager to direct the Dietary Department, ensure meals meet physician orders and resident preferences, and supervise the dietary team.

You will partner with the Registered Dietitian to implement individualized nutrition plans, manage budgets and inventory, and maintain safety and quality standards to support residents’ health and dining experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential required.
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of supervisory experience in dietary services, preferably in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, infection prevention, and long-term care nutrition standards.
  • Experience with food service budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dietary management software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise all daily operations of the Dietary Department.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served in accordance with physician orders, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Dietitian to implement and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
  • Maintain compliance with CMS, state, federal, OSHA, and local health department regulations.
  • Oversee food purchasing, receiving, storage, inventory, and cost control to remain within budget.
  • Ensure proper sanitation, infection control, and food safety practices throughout the department.
  • Develop work schedules and staffing assignments to ensure adequate department coverage.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate dietary staff.
  • Conduct routine kitchen inspections to ensure cleanliness and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor food quality, meal presentation, and resident satisfaction with dining services.
  • Participate in resident care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records related to food temperatures, sanitation, inventory, production, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure all dietary equipment is maintained and functioning properly; report repair needs promptly.
  • Respond professionally to resident and family concerns regarding dining services.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
  • Assist during surveys and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Promote a positive dining experience that enhances resident dignity, choice, and quality of life.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily operations of the Dietary Department to ensure residents receive nutritious, appetizing, and well-balanced meals in accordance with physician orders, therapeutic diets, resident preferences, and all federal, state, and local regulations. The CDM leads the dietary team, maintains food safety standards, manages department budgets and inventory, and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to promote residents' health, satisfaction, and quality of life.
