Job summary

Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Certified Dialysis Technician to provide direct patient care and support dialysis treatments under RN supervision. The role requires current PCT/CHT/CCHT certification and BLS CPR, with preferred prior dialysis experience.

You will help with equipment setup, medication documentation, and infection control. Join a 190-bed sub-acute and long‑term care facility focused on compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Current certification as PCT, CHT, or CCHT required.
  • Current license/certification as required by state/federal regulations.
  • Dialysis experience preferred.
  • BLS CPR certification required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of dialysis equipment and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
  • Set up, test, operate, clean, and disinfect dialysis machines and equipment.
  • Prepare, administer, and document medications as allowed.
  • Monitor patient condition and equipment during treatments; report concerns.
  • Collect, prepare, and process lab specimens as required.
  • Document treatment data in the EMR.
  • Assist during emergencies; support patient care as directed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and staff to ensure quality care.

Guided by our core values of Passion, Respect, and Excellence, the Certified Dialysis Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring safe, effective, high-quality dialysis treatments.

Responsibilities for Certified Dialysis Technician:
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with facility policies and all applicable federal, state, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Set up, test, operate, clean, and disinfect dialysis machines and related equipment.
  • Prepare, administer, and accurately document medications as permitted by certification and state regulations.
  • Monitor patient condition and dialysis equipment throughout treatments, promptly reporting any concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  • Collect, prepare, and process laboratory specimens as required.
  • Accurately document treatment information and patient data within the electronic medical record.
  • Respond appropriately during emergencies and assist with patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment while following infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Promote teamwork by collaborating with nurses, physicians, and fellow staff to deliver exceptional patient care.
Qualifications for Certified Dialysis Technician:
  • Current certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT), Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), or Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) required.
  • Current certification and licensure as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Previous dialysis or nephrology experience preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification (CPR) required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to monitor multiple patients while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of dialysis equipment, infection prevention practices, and patient safety standards.
