Description
  • Provides assistance to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating, and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, and equipment; also provides retraction under the surgeon's direction.
  • Maintains the highest standards of aseptic technique during all operative procedures, including surgical attire, hand scrubs, gowning, gloving, and managing traffic patterns between sterile and non-sterile areas.
  • Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements corrective interventions.
  • Performs all phases of reprocessing, including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and troubleshooting parameter failures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Employment Details

Type: Full-time

Shift: Day Shift

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and residents with instruments, supplies, and retraction.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and identify breaches.
  • Reprocess surgical trays and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
  • Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology preferred.
  • CPR certification within one month of hire.
  • NBSTA Surgical Technologist certification within 1 year of hire.
  • At least 1 year inpatient Surgical Technologist experience.
  • Preferred experience in Cardiovascular Services or open-heart surgery.
  • Availability for call for the open-heart team.
Work Schedule
  • 40 hours per week, variable shifts.
  • 8-hour shifts, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm.
  • Weekends and holidays scheduled per CBA.
  • Call required.
