Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. in Florida is seeking an experienced crane operator to operate hydraulic, friction, rubber tire, track and tower cranes, lifting and moving loads with safety and efficiency.

The role requires comprehensive knowledge of crane operation and load handling per manufacturer charts. Candidates must hold a crane course, NCCCO or NCCER certification, OSHA 10, and a valid DOT physical; 1000+ hours in the field; ability to read specs, signals, and perform inspections;

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old and able to pass a background check.
• Must complete a Crane course at a certified trade school or seminar.
• NCCCO or NCCER certification required.
• DOT physical may be required; annual checks.
• OSHA 10 training and a minimum of 1000 hours of seat time in the field.
• Must read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor and coworkers.
• Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.
• Must lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repeatedly; work in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment that lifts, hoists or moves materials for construction purposes.
• Move levers, adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to drive machines and control attachments such as swing booms.
• May maintain equipment using a grease gun and oil can.
• May direct workers engaged in placing blocks and outriggers on cranes.
• Fasten attachments, connect hydraulic hoses, belts and linkages.
• Inspect equipment daily to ensure safe operation before use.
• Must follow OSHA rules and read load charts for crane operation.
• Assess weather conditions prior to attempting lifts.
• Other duties as assigned.
