Job summary

The Iowa Judicial Branch in District 4 seeks Certified Court Reporters to record court proceedings and provide official transcripts for Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby counties.

This role creates verbatim records using shorthand, stenotype, or voice-dictation, and transcribes notes into certified transcripts per Iowa Court Rules. Travel within the district is required to record proceedings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• RPR or CVR certification, or completion of a court reporter program.
• Ability to take shorthand notes and produce certified transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Create verbatim records of testimony and proceedings as required by Iowa Court Rules.
• Mark, record, and secure exhibits during court proceedings.
• Transcribe shorthand records into certified transcripts for the court clerk's office.
• Perform clerical duties related to court documents and records.
• Maintain shorthand reporter certification and complete continuing education.
