Job summary

Lincoln County is seeking a Bailiff to maintain order and safety within court facilities. The role requires collaboration with judges, attorneys, and staff, plus strong enforcement experience and calm handling of challenging situations.

The successful candidate will screen entrants, manage juries, protect witnesses, transport prisoners, and maintain precise records. A sworn peace officer certification and a valid driver’s license are required, with duties performed in a demanding court

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.
• Certified sworn peace officer credentials required.
• Minimum 1 year in bailiff or related law enforcement role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Knowledge of courtroom procedures and legal terminology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure environment in courtrooms during hearings and trials.
• Screen individuals entering the courtroom and enforce security protocols.
• Execute court orders and transport prisoners as needed.
• Oversee jury management and ensure juror comfort and safety.
• Provide protection for witnesses and assist judges and attorneys as required.
• Maintain accurate records of proceedings and incidents.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and court staff for security and operations.
• Educate the public on courtroom procedures and roles.
