Job summary

Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance (TOA) is seeking a Certified Coder to support coding for orthopaedic services in our Knoxville-area clinics. The role focuses on accurate CPT-4/ICD-10/HCPCS coding in alignment with documentation and payer policies.

You will work within our established coding team to ensure clean claims and compliance. The ideal candidate holds CPC or CCS-P certification, has ASC surgery coding experience, and lives in the Knoxville region.

Qualifications

• Must have ASC surgery coding experience.
• Orthopaedic coding experience preferred.
• Must reside in the Knoxville area.
• Must have a CPC or CCS-P certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering primary health care and patient care management with compliant coding.
• Review and abstract patient records to assign diagnoses, treatments, and procedures.
• Ensure services documented are coded with correct diagnoses and procedure codes.
• Utilize query processes when documentation is inadequate.
• Enter codes into the practice management system and correct errors in editors.
• Educate providers about audit results with professional conduct.
• Stay current with CPT-4, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and payer requirements.

Responsibilities

• The Certified Coder assists in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management, ensuring that charges are coded and consistent with documentation and applicable coding policies.
• Review and abstract patient medical records to assign diagnoses, treatments, and surgical procedures for professional services
• Ensure all services documented in the patient's medical record are coded with appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes
• Utilize query process when services are not documented appropriately
• Enter codes into practice management system and rectifies errors in the preprocessor and post-processor editing systems
• Provide education to providers regarding results of periodic audits while maintaining exceptionally high degree of professionalism
• Maintain a working knowledge, and stay abreast of, CPT-4, ICD-10, HCPCS coding principles, modifier usage, medical terminology, governmental regulations, protocols and third party payer requirements pertaining to billing, coding and documentation
• Maintain a daily average set by supervisor/ management.

Requirements

• Must have ASC Surgery Coding Experience
• Orthopaedic coding experience is preferred.
• Must reside in the Knoxville area.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year experience.
• Must be CPC or CCS-P certified
• Have a good working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
