Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee Surgery Center is seeking a Full Time Certified Sterile Processing Technician. This position works to maintain the cleanliness, functionality, and inventory of the instruments, equipment, and medical supplies according to nationally recognized standards, regulations, and center policies to ensure safe, quality, patient care.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of daily work in a manner which contributes to and ensures an environment of patient safety.
• Assists and instructs in the supervision of specialized technical skills requirements and work performance in the specific module.
• Is responsible for the orientation of all new personnel in his/her module.
• Works with the manager in developing quality monitors and in-service programs
• Performs all reprocessing tasks following established hospital, department and manufacturer protocols and policies.
• Insures proper operation of all sterilizing units prior to use on a daily basis.
• Runs biological and chemical tests appropriately. Records results in appropriate log.
• Inspects steam autoclaves for visible signs of malfunction and reports to Central Sterilizing Lead/ OR Supervisor.
• Processes and oversees all contaminated instruments and supplies returned to Central Sterilizing
• Uses knowledge of sterilization principles to correctly wrap or package items for sterilization
• Processes all items appropriately using steam sterilization or STERIS process Maintains appropriate spore testing on routine basis and documents results as required.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
