Job summary

City of Mableton is seeking a Building Inspector to inspect buildings and systems at various construction stages for compliance with state and local codes and project conditions.

Under the Direction of the Chief Building Official, the role includes plan reviews, issuing Certificates of Completion and Occupancy, and maintaining records. A GA driver’s license and B1/B2 inspector certifications within one year are required.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain B1 & B2 Inspector certifications within one year.
• Must obtain Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level 1A and 1B within one year.
• Valid Georgia driver's license with satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

• Perform building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, environmental and related inspections.
• Issue stop work orders, Certificates of Completion and Certificates of Occupancy as needed.
• Review construction documents for compliance with codes and permits.
• Maintain inspection records and reports; communicate with architects, engineers and contractors.
• Assist code enforcement investigations when required.
