Job summary

The Phelps County Sheriff's Department is seeking a Court Security Officer to maintain order in the courtroom, assist the judge, and enforce state laws. You will work with court personnel and attorneys, open court, and ensure the court is ready for proceedings.

This role requires handling confidential information with discretion, assisting jurors, transporting prisoners, and performing related duties. Strong written and verbal communication, multi-tasking, and independent judgment are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be certified as a Missouri law enforcement officer or eligible for licensing as a peace officer in Missouri.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent General Education Development Certificate (GED)


• Must be certified as a law enforcement officer in the state of Missouri


• Or be eligible for licensing (waiver of MO academy requirement) as a peace officer in the state of Missouri by the Department of Public

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk and hear; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 21 years of age


• Permitted to work in the United States


• Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays


• Complete board interview, background investigation, and polygraph examination
