The Opportunity

The MGB Center for Sports Medicine is an exciting new initiative to build a nationally recognized and regional leader in sports medicine. It combines a broad existing set of sports medicine capabilities across the MGB system (academic medical centers, community hospitals, physical therapy/rehab network) with targeted investments to expand and grow the business.

The Athletic Trainer provides medical coverage for athletic training room duties and athletic events for a local high school athletic program. Responsibilities include assessing injured athletes and providing appropriate medical treatment. The Athletic Trainer collaborates with the Director of Athletics and Team Physician for the assigned program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Sports Medicine Program at the high school.
  2. Provide immediate assessment and care for injuries during school athletic activities.
  3. Plan, implement, evaluate, and modify preconditioning, conditioning, and reconditioning programs for athletes, ensuring compliance with MGL c. 112, s. 23A. Review all pre-participation medical forms and information relevant to student-athletes' initial medical clearance.
  4. Provide athletic training services during practices and games at home and away sites.
  5. Coordinate practice and event coverage; communicate schedules to relevant parties.
  6. Communicate with athletic administration, coaches, parents, primary care physicians, and specialists regarding injury diagnosis, treatment, injury trends, and medical alerts.
  7. Document injuries and manage injury data in the established system.
  8. Design and implement injury prevention programs based on sport-specific injury trends.
  9.
