Position Overview

MedStar Health seeks a Certified Athletic Trainer Mentor to join the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network. The candidate should demonstrate professional competency as outlined by NATABOC practice domains.

Athletic Trainers are healthcare professionals skilled in prevention, emergency care, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries. Our athletic trainers provide medical coverage, community outreach, and promote wellness and injury prevention across active populations. Our mission emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach and appropriate referrals to MedStar physicians and therapists for continuous care.

Primary Duties
  • Assess injured athletes onsite, review history, perform assessments, recommend actions, and document results accurately and promptly. Attend and represent MedStar at community and staff meetings.
  • Initiate referral processes, navigate community outreach, and use protocols effectively. Determine athlete readiness and communicate status with athletes, families, and staff.
  • Prevent, recognize, evaluate, and provide immediate care, rehabilitation, and reconditioning. Cover affiliated events such as camps, tournaments, and health fairs.
  • Maintain administrative responsibilities including scheduling, reporting, and compliance.
  • Engage in professional development through educational programs and workshops.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training from an accredited institution.
  • Certified as an ATC by NATABOC and AHA.
  • CPR certification.
  • Eligible for ATC licensure in Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.
