General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer Mentor to join our team at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network! We seek professionals with competency as outlined by NATABOC practice domains.

Athletic Trainers are highly qualified healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. At MedStar Sports Medicine, our athletic trainers provide expert medical coverage and lead community outreach to promote wellness, health, and injury prevention across various active populations. Primary Duties
  1. Provides assessments of injured athletes onsite at the training facility, including reviewing history, conducting assessments, making recommendations, and documenting results promptly. Represents MedStar National Rehabilitation Network at seasonal parent nights, coaches meetings, booster club meetings, contract meetings, and staff meetings.

  2. Initiates referral processes to navigate outreach within the MedStar system to increase service volumes (e.g., physician, physical therapy). Uses appropriate protocols and communicates effectively with athletes, families, and staff regarding athlete status.

  3. Prevents, recognizes, evaluates, and provides immediate care, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries/illnesses. Provides athletic medicine coverage at affiliated events such as camps, tournaments, health fairs, and educational classes.

  4. Maintains accountability for administrative requirements including schedules, reporting, tracking, and compliance.

  5. Engages in professional growth through educational programs, workshops, and independent learning.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training from an accredited institution.

  • Certification as an ATC by NATABOC and CPR certification.

  • Eligible for ATC licensure in Maryland, Virginia, and practice in D.C.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

This position offers a hiring range of $60,632 - $107,494.
