Job description

SUMMARY:

The staff certified athletic trainer has two distinct sets of duties. The primary duties include providing athletic training services to a contracted educational institution, sponsored or contracted event, or organization. These services include, but are not limited to, evaluation, treatment, and management of injured athletes, injury prevention, record keeping, and on-site coverage as per contract terms. The secondary duties encompass additional responsibilities such as assisting with the Lexington Clinic Orthopedic and Physical Therapy practices, organizing Sports Medicine Center programs, educational programming, research efforts, marketing, public speaking, and other duties assigned by the supervisor. Variations in involvement with these functions are expected among individuals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure
  • CPR certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Two years of athletic training experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff, patients, athletes, coaches, administrators, and parents

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:

  • Ability to move, position, and remain stationary for up to eight hours daily
  • Lift, move, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Assist injured patients and athletes safely
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions
