Millis High School in Millis, MA seeks a certified Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive athletic healthcare for its small, combined high school and middle school athletic programs. This role involves the prevention, assessment, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries for student-athletes, ensuring a safe playing environment through risk management, maintaining accurate medical records, and fostering clear communication with coaches, parents, school nurses, and physicians. The Athletic Trainer will also be responsible for managing athlete registrations, including familiarity with the FamilyID online registration platform, overseeing inventory and budget for supplies, and collaborating with the Athletic Director to uphold MIAA policies and promote overall student-athlete wellness.
Salary Range: $45,000-$48,000
Qualifications
1. Education:
Bachelor's Degree Require, Master's Degree Preferred: You must have graduated from a college or university program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
2. Certification:
Board of Certification (BOC) Certification: You must successfully pass the national certification examination administered by the Board of Certification (BOC).
3. Licensure:
Massachusetts State Licensure: Licensed by the Board of Registration of Allied Health Professions.
4. Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) / CPR/AED Certification:
Current Healthcare Provider Level CPR/AED: You must hold a current certification in Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) at the Healthcare Provider level, which includes Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED use, and the use of barrier devices (e.g., bag-valve-mask). This certification must include a practical skills component and be from a BOC-approved provider.
5. Medical Direction:
Athletic trainers in Massachusetts must work under the direction of a licensed physician or dentist.
6. Continuing Education:
To maintain both your BOC certification and Massachusetts state license, you will be required to complete continuing education (CE) hours on a regular basis.
