Job summary

Boston Sports & Biologics seeks an Athletic Trainer (ATC-BOC) to deliver clinical evaluation and educational skills under physician supervision. You will provide athletic training services, assess injuries, and develop patient care plans with minimal supervision while ensuring patient safety and privacy.

Boston Sports & Biologics specializes in treating patients through minimally invasive and non-operative procedures to help them recover faster and avoid unnecessary surgeries. Whether treating competitive athletes, fitness enthusiasts, or weekend warriors, we prioritize tailored care to ensure the best outcomes. Our services include advanced musculoskeletal ultrasound for injury diagnosis, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, stem cell injections, and other cutting-edge treatments. Commonly addressed conditions include concussions, arthritis, sports-related injuries, rotator cuff tears, and tendon pathologies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the supervising Physician and Clinic Lead, this is an athletic training position with clinical responsibilities to one or more physicians. This position will require that the incumbent possesses the clinical evaluation and educational skills expected of a certified athletic trainer. Additionally, the incumbent will provide athletic training services for Boston Sports and Biologics under the direction of a designated physician. The ATC must perform many of the outlined tasks with minimal or no supervision in the clinical setting. The incumbent has direct patient contact primarily for the evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathology consistent with the scope and practice of athletic training clinical competencies as defined by the NATABOC and the State of Massachusetts Athletic Training Credentialing Board. The ATC has access and knowledge of confidential medical information regarding patients' medical history. Access to this information is crucial in the evaluation and treatment of patients and athletes, and is on a regular basis. Problems encountered are of a moderate level of complexity and a considerable amount of creativity, resourcefulness, and innovation are utilized in problem solving.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assures chart availability/preparedness for clinic follow-up.
  • Performs telephone and general office duties as needed by the practice.
  • Examines patient, performs clinical assessment/medical history and comprehensive physical examination in clinical setting and then presents the information to the provider in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, assists in provision of continuity of care from office visits through surgery if necessary as well as therapy needs as necessary.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as wound care, splint/brace application, crutch and gait training and therapeutic exercise.
  • Provides post-operative care for follow-up patients: applies post-operative dressings/bandages, splints and casts, discontinues drains, and removes sutures.
  • Discusses proper follow-up care/tests with the patient, provides patient education/discharge teaching.
  • Performs shockwave treatments under physician orders.
  • Coordinates diagnostic tests (x-ray, MRI) under physician orders.
  • Serves as a link between patient and physician during patient care.
  • Coordinate care of local high school and collegiate athletes and their school’s Athletic Trainer.
  • Attends classes and meetings as required for safety, training, etc. and educational opportunities
  • Follows clinic and section policies concerning appropriate conduct and dress
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA requirements, and patient safety
  • Ad hoc projects and assignments as required

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Nationally certified athletic trainer (ATC-BOC)
  • Massachusetts state licensure
  • Master’s degree in health-related field, preferred
  • CPR Certification
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in field training as a certified Athletic Trainer
  • Experience working in clinic environment (preferred)
  • Completion of an Athletic Training Residency program (preferred)
Additional Skill

Medical terminology. Basic computer knowledge relating to access to electronic medical record and other outside PACs applications. Ability to evaluate and assess patient injury. Ability to read radiological reports.
