Job summary

OrthoCincy is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to contribute to delivering excellent orthopaedic care in a patient-centered environment. This role includes cast room duties, immobilization devices, and related clinical tasks.

You will collaborate with patients, colleagues, and physicians, attend monthly department meetings, maintain supplies and records in the electronic health record, and ensure HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards. Weekly travel between locations is required.

Qualifications

  • Certified Athletic Trainer required.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Weekly travel between locations.

Responsibilities

  • Cast care including application, removal and assessment of immobilization devices.
  • Communicate and collaborate with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Attend monthly department meetings.
  • Ensure safe and efficient use of cast saw and related equipment.
  • Work with Medical Assistants as needed.
  • Maintain adequate casting and medical supplies.
  • Perform clinical duties such as order entry, phlebotomy, injections, wound care, and dressing changes.
  • Maintain and operate autoclaves and cast saw vacuums.

General Job Summary

Contributes in the delivery of excellent orthopaedic care in a patient centered environment while focusing on their individual needs.

Essential Job Functions
  • 1. Responsible for all aspects of providing quality orthopaedic care relating to casting including, but not limited to: care in the cast room for patients requiring immobilization including: applying, removing and assessing need for change of all types of orthopaedic immobilization devices.
  • 2. Communicate and work well in the clinical environment with interaction with patients, fellow workers, physicians and others.
  • 3. Attend monthly department meetings as scheduled.
  • 4. Responsible for the safe and efficient use of the cast saw.
  • 5. Works interchangeably with Medical Assistants as needed.
  • 6. Individual must possess the ability to work independently, perform multiple tasks, work as a team to accomplish practice goals, and maintain strong organizational skills.
  • 7. Maintains adequate casting and medical supplies.
  • 8. Clinical duties such as, but not limited to, order entry, phlebotomy, injection draws, application of DME, suture removal, pin, wound and dressing care.
  • 9. Inspects and maintains autoclaves, cast saw vacuums, and other equipment.
  • 11. Responsible for patient brace/crutch fitting and product education.
  • 12. Assist patients with personal hygiene needs when warranted.
  • 13. Educate patients on their financial responsibility for products dispensed to them.
  • 14. Maintain records within the company Electronic Health Record System (HER).
  • 15. Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards of the organization.
  • 16. Ensure certifications are current and up to date.
  • 17. Takes the initiative in performing additional tasks that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
Requirements
Education/Experience
  • Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
Other Requirements

Must be patient care oriented with a team environment focus. Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends. Weekly travel between locations.

Work Environment

Medical office and exam/procedure room settings.

Mental/Physical Requirements

Standing and walking 90 % of the time. Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to remain focused and attentive without distractions (i.e. personal devices). Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
