Job summary

Peerstar is seeking a full-time Certified Associate Facilitator (Certified Peer Support Specialist Trainer) in Pennsylvania to join our team. This role includes a structured 90-day training period designed to prepare trainees to deliver adaptable, community-focused peer support that meets individuals where they are.

The Certified Associate Facilitator encourages self-directed recovery, supports education, employment, and social goals, and helps navigate benefits and health services.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in a human services–related field preferred.
  • Credentialed as a Certified Peer Specialist and eligible for certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
  • At least one (1) year of behavioral health experience.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including email, timekeeping systems, electronic health records, internet research, and the ability to learn job-specific software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, cultural competence, interpersonal effectiveness, teamwork, organization, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, meet deadlines and billable unit requirements, and maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with participants to develop and pursue self-directed recovery goals aligned with their individualized support plans.
  • Support participants in achieving educational, employment, and social goals, including assistance navigating benefits, medical and behavioral health services, substance use resources, budgeting skills, and housing options.
  • Participate in and support community-based socialization and recovery activities, including outings, festivals, recovery learning centers, and 12-step meetings.
  • Collaborate with participants to develop Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and encourage the creation of mental health advance directives.
  • Facilitate peer support groups tailored to participant interests, strengths, and recovery needs.
  • Accurately document participant services, progress, and outcomes in the electronic health record system in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of Peerstar’s mission.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk using ergonomically appropriate equipment.
  • Must be able to travel throughout service area in PA
  • Flexibility to travel at least 2x per month for scheduled classes
