Position: Certified Application Counselor

Schedule: Full Time, Shift 1, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday

Primary Function

The Certified Application Counselor facilitates enrollment of uninsured and underinsured patients and community members into Qualified Health Plans through the Marketplace and other health coverage programs such as Medicaid and CHIP. They assist qualified individuals in making informed decisions about health plan selection. The counselor must be knowledgeable about federal and state regulations and community resources to inform patients of their eligibility for programs like MassHealth, Qualified Health Plans (including ConnectorCare), Health Safety Net, Medical Hardship, and prescription assistance programs. They also link eligible patients to free or reduced-cost primary and specialty care services when possible.

Qualifications
Experience

At least two years of professional or paraprofessional experience in social work, claims adjudication, job placement, recruitment, employment or vocational counseling, credit investigation, educational counseling, legal advocacy, or related fields involving direct client contact.

Education and Training

A Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience.

License, Certification & Registration

Certified Application Counselor (CAC) within 3 months of hire.

  • Preferred: Experience completing complex insurance applications and educating consumers about benefits.
