Job description

Full-Time Personal Trainer Inward Fitness

Position Type: Full-Time (this may begin as part-time as we provide/build clientele for your schedule)

Department: Personal Training

Reports To: Fitness Director / Owner

About Inward Fitness

At Inward Fitness, we believe fitness is about more than what happens in the gym. We help people become stronger, healthier, and more confident by creating an environment where every client feels supported, challenged, and capable.

We are looking for a passionate, professional, and relationship-driven Personal Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, takes pride in their coaching, and understands that great personal training combines sound exercise science with exceptional client care.

Position Overview

The Full-Time Personal Trainer is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and engaging personal training experiences while building lasting relationships with clients.

This position is ideal for a trainer who wants to build a long-term career in fitness, not simply fill hours on a schedule. You will work closely with clients of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels to help them establish realistic goals, develop healthy habits, improve strength and mobility, and achieve measurable results.

The successful candidate will represent the values and culture of Inward Fitness both on and off the training floor.

Key Responsibilities
Client Training & Coaching
  • Conduct high-quality one-on-one and/or small-group personal training sessions.
  • Design individualized workouts based on each client’s goals, fitness level, abilities, and limitations.
  • Coach proper exercise technique, movement patterns, and safe training practices.
  • Modify exercises appropriately to accommodate individual needs.
  • Track client progress and make programming adjustments as needed.
  • Create challenging, motivating, and enjoyable training experiences.
  • Help clients develop sustainable fitness and lifestyle habits.
Client Experience & Retention
  • Build genuine, professional relationships with clients.
  • Create an environment where clients feel welcomed, encouraged, and accountable.
  • Communicate consistently with clients regarding goals, progress, scheduling, and challenges.
  • Celebrate client achievements and help clients stay motivated through setbacks.
  • Provide an exceptional experience that encourages long-term client relationships and referrals.
Business Development
  • Participate in consultations, fitness assessments, and new-client onboarding.
  • Assist with converting prospective clients into personal training clients.
  • Maintain an active training schedule and work toward established client and revenue goals.
  • Generate referrals through excellent service and relationship building.
  • Participate in Inward Fitness events, challenges, workshops, and community activities.
  • Contribute to the overall growth and success of the business.
Professional Expectations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional training environment.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for every session.
  • Maintain current professional certifications and continuing education.
  • Follow all Inward Fitness policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other trainers and team members.
  • Represent Inward Fitness with professionalism, positivity, and integrity.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification.
  • Strong understanding of exercise fundamentals, strength training, mobility, and conditioning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, dependable, and organized.
  • Comfortable working with clients of varying ages and fitness levels.
  • Passion for helping people improve their health and quality of life.

Preferred:

  • 3+ year of personal training experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications or education in strength & conditioning, corrective exercise, nutrition, mobility, or specialized populations.
  • Experience working with small-group training.
  • Experience in client sales, retention, or relationship management.
What We’re Looking For

We want someone who:

  • Loves people as much as they love fitness.
  • Is energetic, positive, and encouraging without being intimidating.
  • Can coach beginners while still challenging experienced clients.
  • Understands that listening is just as important as demonstrating an exercise.
  • Is confident enough to lead but humble enough to keep learning.
  • Takes ownership of their clients’ experience and results.
  • Is comfortable having conversations about goals, accountability, and commitment.
  • Wants to be part of a team rather than simply rent space and train clients.
  • Believes fitness should improve the way people feel, move, live, and age—not just how they look.
  • Competitive compensation based on commission with potential of moving to salary in future
  • Opportunities for performance‑based bonuses and incentives
  • Paid training and/or continuing education opportunities
  • Opportunities for advancement within Inward Fitness
  • Supportive team environment
  • Opportunity to build a strong, long‑term client base
  • Access to a professional facility and training resources
Physical Requirements
  • Demonstrate and coach a variety of strength, cardiovascular, mobility, and functional exercises.
  • Safely assist clients when necessary.
  • Stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and move throughout the training floor for extended periods.
  • Lift and move fitness equipment as needed.
Our Ideal Candidate

The right person for this position understands that personal training is personal.

You aren’t just counting reps or writing workouts. You’re helping someone walk into the gym with confidence, helping a client regain strength, helping an older adult maintain independence, or helping someone finally believe that they are capable of more than they thought.

If you are passionate about coaching, love building relationships, and want to grow with a fitness business that puts people first, we’d love to meet you.

Compensation and benefits may vary based on experience, qualifications, and role responsibilities.
