Job summary

Brookshire Nursing and Rehabilitation seeks a Certified Activity Director to lead our activities program across long-term care, nursing home, and rehab settings. You will plan, implement, and evaluate activities addressing physical, cognitive, social, spiritual, and emotional needs in compliance with regulations.

You will coordinate calendars, assessments, and care plans, while supervising staff and maintaining survey-ready records. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• ADC/NCCAP certification or state-approved equivalent is required.
• Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, or related field preferred.
• Experience in activities programming in a long-term care or healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of OBRA and CMS guidelines for activities and life enrichment.
• Criminal background check is required.
• Familiar with local, state, and federal regulations relating to the job.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement a diverse activities calendar.
• Conduct resident activity assessments and integrate results into care plans.
• Develop and post monthly activity calendars with varied programming.
• Lead group and one-on-one activities including arts, games, and exercises.
• Coordinate events, celebrations, and family engagement opportunities.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise activity assistants and volunteers.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team to support care plans.
• Maintain documentation for participation and care plans per OBRA/CMS.
• Manage department budget and order supplies.
