Job summary
ClickHouse is expanding its Learning Team and seeks a leader to own certification programs, expand exam offerings, and build a community of ClickHouse certified professionals. You will develop performance-based exams, collaborate with domain SMEs, and drive quizzes and badges while engaging with learners and industry events.
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in technical certification, strong SQL skills, and experience with databases and distributed systems.
Qualifications
- A self-motivated attitude that provides you with the desire and determination to complete projects in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Proven experience developing certification exams and quizzes for a highly technical audience like software engineers and database developers
- Experience with SQL
- Technical breadth and depth in relevant subjects such as DBMS, OLAP, Cloud/SaaS platforms, distributed systems software engineering, and big data
- You have a high level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively
- Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
- Develop performance-based, hands-on ClickHouse certification exams on real-time analytics, observability and data warehousing use cases.
- Collaborate with company SMEs to create job task analyses for exams.
- Grade and maintain all certification exams, including writing grading scripts.
- Develop quizzes for course-completion badges and ClickHouse credentials.
- Write and deploy quizzes for ClickHouse credentials.
- Establish a community presence for ClickHouse certified professionals via social media and events.
- Track and report metrics and KPIs of the certification program.
- Coordinate with certification and badging vendors to ensure delivery of exams and badges.
- Handle customer support from learners pursuing certifications.
- Travel occasionally to meetups and conferences to promote ClickHouse to the community.

The Learning Team at ClickHouse is growing fast as more and more users discover the power of ClickHouse and need to understand how to use it effectively. As part of that growth, we want to expand our certification program. We currently offer credentialed badges for completion of courses and one performance-based ClickHouse Certified Developer exam for those who are subject matter experts. We are looking for someone to take ownership of our certification program, expand our certification exam offerings, and build a community around our ClickHouse certified professionals.
- Developing performance-based, hands-on ClickHouse certification exams on ClickHouse use cases like real-time analytics, observability and data warehousing
- Working with company SME's to create job task analyses for exams
- Grading and maintaining all certification exams, including writing grading scripts
- Developing quizzes for our course-completion badges
- Writing and deploying quizzes for ClickHouse credentials
- Establishing a community presence for ClickHouse certified professionals using popular social media outlets and also while attending ClickHouse user conferences and Meetups
- Tracking and reporting on the metrics and KPIs of the certification program
- Working with the certification and badging vendors to ensure proper delivery of the exams and badges
- Handling customer support from learners interested in obtaining our certifications
- Traveling occasionally to Meetups and conferences to promote ClickHouse to the community

- Experience with ClickHouse database
- Experience with one or more Cloud Service Providers such as AWS, GCP, Azure
- Experience building software certification exams
- Ability to work cross-functionally amongst engineering, support, product and development teams
- Technical degree (e.g. Computer Science or related field)
- You thrive in a customer-facing role, collaborating closely with Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams
- You are self-driven, curious, and eager to continuously learn and grow
- You possess a mindset of teamwork, global engagement, empathy, and a drive for solving challenging problems
- You have a sense of adventure and urgency in building the most scalable, highest performing, largest, and fastest databases in the world
$169,000 - $191,000 USD
$188,000 - $212,000 USD
For roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed.
These salary ranges reflect what we reasonably and in good faith believe to be the minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation may be higher or lower than the amounts listed, and the ranges may be subject to future adjustments.
