Job description

As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform.

About the Role:

The CrowdStrike Certification team is seeking an Exam Developer with experience in the design and development of high-stakes assessments to help us maintain and grow our portfolio of certifications and credentials. In this role you will be part of the CrowdStrike Professional Services Training and Education team, where you will work closely with experienced and talented cybersecurity subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure CrowdStrike exams are valid, reliable, and fair for all candidates.

We are looking for an individual with strong knowledge of the complete exam development process, including workshop facilitation skills and hands-on experience working with item banking and exam publication tools. The ideal candidate will work with our certification manager, curriculum developers, training instructors, and SMEs across CrowdStrike and beyond to keep our exams in alignment with relevant product updates and job roles, while monitoring the quality of existing exams and contributing to the continuous growth and improvement of our program.

What You’ll Do:

  • Facilitate workshops with SMEs including Job Task Analysis (JTA), Minimally Qualified Candidate (MQC) definition, item writing, technical review, and standard setting.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to create exam blueprints, test specifications, item development guidelines, and marketing materials.
  • Conduct routine exam and item analysis to assess the performance and quality of exams, and make recommendations for exam/item updates as needed.
  • Regularly review and update existing exams to ensure content relevance and alignment with industry standards and product changes.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge across the cybersecurity industry and CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform
  • Contribute to the definition and maintenance of a microcredentialing program
  • Engage with customers regarding exam preparation, exam attempts, remediation, and individual performance records.
  • Communicate with vendors to maintain critical functions for exam candidates such as exam registration, exam delivery, results notification, and distribution of digital badges.
  • Contribute to the overall growth of the CrowdStrike certification program by consistently seeking efficient and effective process improvements.

What You’ll Need:

  • 3-5 years experience with high-stakes certification development, training, content creation, program management, or related role with SaaS or enterprise technology
  • Familiarity with all steps of the exam development process including MQC definition, JTA facilitation, item writing, technical review, and standard setting
  • Experience leading workshops with multiple participants and presenting to business leaders
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, instructional designers, psychometricians, and technology specialists.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, guidelines, and regulations related to exam development (e.g., ISO 17024, ETS Standards for Quality and Fairness).
  • Strong, clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of completing tasks on time with limited supervision
  • Desire to grow and expand both technical and interpersonal skills
  • Project and time management skills
  • Ability to foster a positive work environment and attitude
  • Bachelor in Education, Psychology, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field. Relevant equivalent industry or military experience.

Bonus Points:

  • Continuous learning mindset with a drive to self-develop, adapt, and stay informed on the latest certification industry trends and best practices.
  • Experience defining and executing skills-based, hands-on or lab-based assessments
  • Experience with responsible integration of AI tools and technologies into the exam development process
  • Familiarity with project management tools
  • Proficiency in using item banking systems.
  • Familiarity with psychometric analysis techniques and standard setting methodologies.
