This position is for the 2025-2026 school year. Salary is based on the adopted salary schedule for the 24-25 school year at this time (starting salary= $44,200). We accept all previous years in certificated teaching roles as steps on the salary schedule. The Fort Osage School District prioritizes a highly competitive salary schedule, with additional benefits including optional fully paid health insurance, career ladder stipends (up to $5,000), extra duty stipend opportunities, and more.

New teachers mentoring program available for all first and second-year teachers.

Must hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Special Education (B-3). Certificated teaching experience in early childhood and/or early grades is preferred.

Woodland Early Childhood Center has students ages 3-5 that qualify under special education or Title I criteria. Students participate in a half-day session, AM or PM, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays available for testing, IEP meetings, and collaboration. Classrooms have paraprofessional support.

Purpose Statement

The job of Teacher is performed to support the instructional process by developing student success in academics (e.g., reading, writing, language, math) or skills (e.g., art, music, physical education); supervising students; developing lesson plans; collaborating with staff; and maintaining communication with parents/guardians.

This job reports to the Principal.

Essential Functions

  1. Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional strategies and materials that address individualized learning plans.
  2. Administers assessments to evaluate student competencies.
  3. Assesses student progress and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  4. Collaborates with other teachers to implement curriculum and support student success.
  5. Works with staff, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.
  6. Counsels students to improve performance and address personal issues.
  7. Demonstrates instructional methods to meet individual student needs.
  8. Develops and implements behavior plans for a safe learning environment.
  9. Supervises assistant teachers, student teachers, substitutes, and volunteers.
  10. Prepares lesson plans for substitutes to ensure continuity of instruction.
  11. Communicates with parents/guardians about student progress and expectations.
  12. Maintains accurate student data.
  13. Monitors students in various settings to ensure safety.
  14. Participates in meetings and professional development.
  15. Prepares written materials to provide feedback and meet requirements.
  16. Reports incidents to maintain safety and adhere to policies.
  17. Responds to emergencies and inquiries appropriately.

    Responsibility

    Work under limited supervision, follow standardized practices, and monitor budget expenditures. May utilize resources from other units.

    Work Environment

    Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The typical work distribution is 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The environment is generally hazard-free and clean.
