Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to maintain sterilization records, operate equipment, and ensure instrument readiness for surgical cases. The role requires a high school diploma, CRCST/CSPDT certifications preferred, English proficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team with strict safety standards.

Compensation includes a pay range and comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in the English language.
• Knowledge of Sterilization Standards.
• Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation.
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology.
• Basic Computer skills.
• Successful completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of prevention of cross-contamination and nosocomial infections.
• Proficient use of all equipment.
• Ability to adapt to change and work under stress and tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate records of sterilization activities and inventory levels.
• Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments for cleanliness and function.

• Maintains proper inventory levels for case carts.
• Participates in quality audits of peers.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments.
• Monitors and documents sterilization processes for safety compliance.
• Troubleshoots sterilization equipment issues.
• Trains new staff on sterilization procedures.
• Ensures proper handling and disposal of biohazard materials.

Job Description:

• Maintains accurate records of sterilization activities and inventory levels.
• Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
• Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments and equipment.
• Monitors and documents sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues with sterilization equipment and processes.
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sterilization processes.
• Trains new staff on sterilization procedures and protocols.
• Ensures proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Work Experience:

• 1+ Sterile Processing experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required]
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]

Pay Range: $18.32 - $29.31
