Summary

Occupational Therapy Assistant Trainee will assist Licensed Occupational Therapy Practitioners with providing comprehensive and client centered occupational therapy treatment for psychiatric, chemical dependency, inpatient, outpatient, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Comprehensive and client centered occupational therapy treatment to provide assistance with includes: one-on-one treatment, and group treatment. The intervention strategies utilized during co-facilitation should be designed to measure and improve skills in the following areas: Activities of Daily Living (ADL), cognitive functioning, work and school performance, leisure and recreation skills, community re-entry, Independent Living Skills, sensory integration, and psychosocial skills. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Trainee will also assist with maintaining an age appropriate therapeutic environment and will perform any duties/responsibilities assigned by Supervisor for which qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates and co-facilitates group treatment ideas and strategies that are client centered, as measured by direct supervision by supervisor.
  • Develops, coordinates and co-facilitates individual treatment ideas and strategies that are client centered, as measured by direct supervision by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates competence with SOAP/SOIEAP notes and other progress notes according to policy, as measured by direct supervision by supervisor.
  • Follows department; Nursing; Human Resources, and IDD policies and procedures.
  • Completes duties and manages issues and concerns as directed by your supervisor; policies and procedures; safety officer; department head; and administration.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior toward client, the family, the public, co-workers, supervisor, and student interns.
  • Develop and maintain the ability to work collaboratively with others in an interdisciplinary work environment.
  • Functions in role of Occupational Therapy consultant in order to educate other health care providers about client’s functional performance; about occupational therapy; and about occupational performance in general.
  • Uses clinical and administrative supervision to address issues and concerns.
  • Assist in maintaining a work environment free from recognized hazards that create a risk of injury to employees, patients or visitors and that all accidents and incidents are reported by employees and properly investigated. When appropriate, assist with the return of all workers with work related injuries and illnesses to gainful employment.
