Overview:

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to treatment standards, assists with objective assessments and comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all ages, adhering to departmental policies and procedures. Performs duties consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

  • Assist with initial assessment of each patient under the direction of O.T.R./L., following departmental policies.
  • Document patient care, including progress notes and ongoing treatment needs, per departmental policy.
  • Administer appropriate modalities, exercises, or treatments according to departmental standards.
  • Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient, ensuring proper documentation and charges.
  • Participate in educational initiatives within the department.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of behaviors and needs across age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
  • Licensure: Current license or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice.
  • Experience: One year preferred; new graduates considered.
  • Certifications: BLS certification; must be current before caring for patients independently.
