Summary

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) practices within the scope of care defined in the Georgia Occupational Therapy Act. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the COTA is responsible for implementing comprehensive occupational therapy programs for patients/residents, providing individual and group treatments, participating in patient and interdisciplinary team conferences, assisting other staff in the efficient operation of the Rehab Therapy Department, maintaining effective communication with the Occupational Therapist, and ensuring accurate documentation in medical records. The COTA ensures a continuum of care within various settings such as hospitals, ambulatory clinics, long-term care facilities, and community-based environments. Maintaining confidentiality regarding residents' care, services, and human resources is essential.

Qualifications
  • Associate Degree from a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program accredited by the NBOTC or the American Occupational Therapy Association; licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia
  • CPR Certification required

Additional Information

PRN staff are required to work a minimum of three 12-hour shifts per schedule, though hours are based on the needs of the unit(s) and are not guaranteed. Shifts may vary in length. PRN staff can sign up in advance based on department needs and may be called upon when necessary. Flexibility to float to other areas within the department is required to ensure safe staffing levels.

Weekend Requirements: One weekend shift per 4-week schedule (Friday 7 pm - Monday 7 am).

Holiday Requirements: Must work two holidays per year—one major (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's) and one minor (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, or Martin Luther King Day).
