Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso seeks a Medical Assistant to support licensed clinicians. You will schedule appointments, maintain records for insurance, take vitals, draw blood, and assist with examinations and meds administration.

Responsibilities include entering medical and social histories, preparing patients for care, and assisting with intakes and discharges. A High School diploma and CMA certification are required; CPR is also required.

Qualifications

• ICD10, CPT4 and HCPCS coding knowledge related to clinic procedures and billing.
• Strong communication skills for patient interactions and team collaboration.
• CRT proficiency and ability to type efficiently.
• Knowledge of vaccine requirements for patients by age group.
• Understanding of patient flow within the clinic.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge of THS/ CHIP programs and eligibility.
• Ability to document in EMR accurately.

Works under the direction of Licensed Healthcare Professionals. Schedules appointments, maintains medical records information for insurance purposes. Takes and records vital signs prepares patients for examination, draws blood, and administers medications. Enters medical, social histories and performs intakes and discharges on all patients to assist Healthcare Providers.

Skills
1. Knowledge of ICD10, CPT4 and HCPCS coding related to clinic procedures and physician billing.
2. Highly effective communication skills.
3. CRT proficiency and ability to type.
4. Knows vaccine requirements for patients, newborns through adulthood for assigned areas.
5. Knowledge in patient flow process, applicable per Clinic.

Work Experience
One year of Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

License/Registration/Certification:
Certified Medical Assistantis required.
CPR training is required.
