Summary: We are seeking a Cerner Patient Accounting Solution Consultant with proven expertise in configuring and optimizing Patient Accounting workflows within Cerner’s EMR/EHR ecosystem.

Travel: Planned to remote with up to 25 – 50% travel. Must be willing to go up to 100% travel as required by the site. All associates must have a strong, reliable Wi-Fi network, and a quiet, dedicated space for remote work.

**Must obtain interim Public Trust eligibility during onboarding

This role is client-facing, requiring a polished professional who can guide federal healthcare organizations through system implementation, optimization, configuration, and training. You will collaborate directly with clinical, financial, and administrative stakeholders to ensure smooth adoption and alignment with revenue cycle goals.

As a Solution Consultant, you will play a key role in consulting with clients on comprehensive service line workflows, from current state assessments to future state design. You will ensure the system is designed and tested effectively and collaborate with clients to map out processes using the stop-start-continue methodology. Your responsibilities will include identifying and resolving issues, reporting solution status, risks, and concerns to both clients and project leadership. Additionally, you will coach clients on data collection and system design requirements, analyze optimal solution builds, and oversee the implementation process. You will also engage with internal project and organizational teams to share configuration status, project timelines, updates, and verify configuration requests.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including:
  • At least 2 year of healthcare information technology (HCIT) consulting, HCIT support, and/or other client-facing or IT solution work experience.
  • At least 4 years of additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education in relevant areas.
  • Proven track record of successful project implementation, customer relations, and IT solutions delivery in the healthcare space.
  • Experience in working with VA-specific systems or other government healthcare technologies is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Cerner Patient Accounting
  • Proven experience in configuring workflows, system design, and implementation.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes including billing, claims, collections, and reimbursement.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; polished and professional demeanor.

Key Responsibilities:

Workflow Configuration & Build:

  • Design, build, and customize Patient Accounting module workflows in Cerner systems.
  • Align billing, claims, and revenue cycle configurations with organizational needs.
  • Conduct functional testing and troubleshoot issues during builds and upgrades.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and be effective hands on key support.

Conversion coverage and current state assessment.

  • Documenting workflows across the PFS department.
  • Presenting complex information to clients and stakeholders
  • Understanding and completing configuration within Health Benefits Manager, Profit Business Manager, Revenue Cycle, Revenue Cycle Maintenance, Olympus, and other tools
  • Explaining and documenting Patient Accounting-related workflows, including Insurance Verification, Revenue Utilization, Billing, Accounts Management, Facility Revenue, and Payor Relations.

Client Engagement & Consultation:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare clients throughout implementation and optimization phases.
  • Conduct requirements gathering, gap analysis, and solution design sessions.
  • Advise on best practices for revenue cycle efficiency and compliance within the system.
  • Work cross-functionally with IT, finance, and clinical teams.
  • Participate in project planning, status updates, and client steering meetings.
  • Assist with system upgrades, testing cycles, and change control processes.
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within the scope of position.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned, which may evolve based on the needs of the client and the project.
  • Perform all clearance requirements and associated onboarding responsibilities/tasks on personal time as required within specified deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands, including occasional extended hours and travel on short notice.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development in healthcare IT and related fields.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and government regulations.

Education:

  • High School Diploma (Secondary School); Bachelor's Degree or higher level of education preferred.

Must have all vaccination records ready to provide upon offer:

  • TB Skin Test (completed within the last 12 months)
  • Two Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccinations
  • Three Hepatitis B vaccinations, positive titer, or signed declination form
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) Vaccination – given within the last 10 years
  • Covid (latest recommended vaccination)
