What you’ll do:

As a Centralized Coder, you will be responsible for coding multispecialty medical records across office, hospital, and surgical settings. You will evaluate medical records and charge tickets to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and training on medical coding to physicians and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate medical record documentation and charge-ticket coding to optimize reimbursement, ensuring that diagnostic and procedural codes accurately reflect outpatient visits and comply with legal standards and regulations.
  • Review patient charts for documentation and billing accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze medical records to code and abstract medical information for submission.
  • Manage high-quality, timely coding, interpreting medical information to assign and sequence correct ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.
  • Review Medicare reimbursement claims for accuracy before submission to minimize denials.
  • Provide technical guidance to physicians and staff in resolving coding issues and errors.
  • Stay updated on coding laws, regulations, and industry trends through periodicals and official sources.
  • Educate staff on proper coding and documentation procedures.
  • Maintain a 95% accuracy rate in professional coding while ensuring productivity.
  • Report coding problems and trends to physicians using charts, graphs, and guidelines.
  • Keep informed about coding systems, laws, and regulations via research and official resources.
  • Adhere to ethical coding standards and confidentiality policies.
What you’ll need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of medical coding experience.
  • Certification through AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CPC, CEMC, CPMA, CRC, CPB, CCS-P, RHIT).
