What you’ll do:

As Centralized Coder, you will be responsible for providing coding for multispecialty outpatient, hospital, and surgery records. You will evaluate medical records and charge tickets to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines. You will also provide technical guidance and training on medical coding to physicians and staff. Experience in Cardiology and Radiation Oncology is preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate medical record documentation and charge-ticket coding to optimize reimbursement, ensuring codes and documentation support outpatient visits and comply with standards.
  • Review patient charts for documentation and billing accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze medical records to code and abstract medical information for submission.
  • Manage timely coding and interpret medical information to assign correct ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.
  • Review Medicare reimbursement claims for accuracy before submission to reduce denials.
  • Provide guidance to physicians and staff on coding issues and documentation.
  • Stay updated on coding rules, laws, and regulations through ongoing education.
  • Educate staff on proper coding procedures and documentation.
  • Maintain a 95% accuracy rate in coding while ensuring high productivity.
  • Report coding issues and trends to physicians using charts, graphs, and guidelines.
  • Keep informed about coding standards, laws, and regulations through research and resources.
  • Follow ethical coding standards and confidentiality policies.
What you’ll need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of medical coding experience.
  • Certification from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CPC, CEMC, CPMA, CRC, CPB, CCS-P, RHIT).
