Job summary

San Benito Health Care District is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, clean, process and sterilize supplies and equipment in accordance with infection control practices.

Position is Full-time, PM Shift with pay of $30-$41/hour. Requires an Accredited Sterile Processing course with clinical hours, BLS, CSPDT or CRCST certification, and preferred CIS/CFER credentials; one year sterile processing experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate and completion of an Accredited Sterile Processing course with required clinical hours.
• BLS Required, CSPDT or CRCST Certification Required.
• CIS Certification Preferred; CFER Certification Preferred.
• One year sterile processing experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment per infection control practices.
• Prepare instrument sets, trays, and individually wrapped instruments.
• Maintain procedures under pressure and interact professionally within the hospital.
• Open to feedback and able to master job duties.
• Follow manufacturer and CMS guidelines when processing endoscopes; monitor temperatures for regulatory purposes.
• Keep department stocked according to PAR levels and Inventory Standards.
• Document sterilizers, biologicals, AER, ultrasonic and humidity/temperature data for regulatory purposes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments
within the hospital. Autonomous and motivated worker. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to accept new ideas and learn position duties. Must be able to follow manufacture guidelines and CMS guidelines when it comes to processing Endoscopes and instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices.
• Preparation of instrument sets, trays, individually wrapped instruments, etc.
• Must be conscientious with regard to procedures, capable of working under pressure, and professional in interactions with co-workers and other departments within the hospital.
• Open to feedback and able to master job duties.
• Must be able to follow manufacturer and CMS guidelines when processing endoscopes and temperatures in all areas must be maintained and in order for regulatory purposes.
• Keeps department supplies stocked according to PAR levels and Inventory Standards.
• Documentation for Sterilizers, Biologicals, AER processes, ultrasonic processes, humidity, temperatures in all areas must be obtained in order for regulatory purposed. Supplies to the department must follow our inventory standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
