Qualifications

The role you’ll contribute:

Provides support to the department by retrieving, documenting, decontaminating, and assembling surgical instruments to ensure instruments are available for scheduled and emergency cases. Responsible for patient safety by ensuring surgical instruments are processed according to manufacturer’s guidelines and AAMI standards.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Responsible for the transportation of contaminated and sterile surgical instruments and supplies to and from all OR's and patient care areas to ensure surgical instruments are available for patient use for scheduled and emergency procedures.
  • Responsible for patient safety by preventing cross-contamination of surgical instruments by decontaminating and inspecting instruments for cleanliness and defects.
  • Contributes to department cleanliness, organization, productivity, and safety by keeping all instruments and supplies in designated locations.
  • Accurately inspects and assembles instrument trays according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards to ensure patient safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Serves as a resource expert and mentor for less experienced Sterile Processing staff.
  • Monitors sterilization practices to ensure all standards are met. Keeps accurate records of all sterilizer loads. Utilizes knowledge of sterilization parameters and takes corrective action if parameters are not met.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology
  • Eighteen (18) months Sterile Processing experience - Maintains educational requirements as outlined in the organizational checklists
  • IAHCSMM CRCST Certification or CBSBD certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved American Heart Association.
