Work Schedule: M-F 10am to 7pm

Job Summary:

Responsible for sterilization of equipment and instruments. Responsible for wrapping surgery packs and laundry. Maintain equipment and supplies.

Specifics:

  1. Preparing medical equipment and instruments for decontamination
  2. Operating equipment to clean, disinfect and decontaminate surgical instruments, medical devices and equipment
  3. Inspecting instruments and equipment for signs of damage and wear
  4. Unpacking, checking and stocking new equipment, instruments and devices
  5. Delivering equipment and supplies to all areas of the hospital
  6. Responding to emergency supply requests during surgical procedures
  7. Maintaining accurate records of sterilization, equipment, and costs
  8. Processing laundry for all areas of the hospital according to specs

Exposure to chemicals used daily in Central Sterilization. Biological hazards from contaminated instruments and soft goods. Sharp instruments may have been left in packs for washing. Exposure to high temperatures causing burns possible if equipment used incorrectly. Noises from equipment and odor from laundry.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
High School/GED
One year of related experience. Attend online courses for Central Service Technical Training Certification from HSPA after hire. Must be able to read and communicate verbally.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand on ladder, stand for extended periods of time, stoop and bend, and work overhead and below waist level for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:
High School/GED
Five years’ experience in a clinic or hospital setting. Obtain additional Certification in at least one area pertaining to Central Sterilization; Biohazards; Infection Control.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
