Under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, the Central Sterile Technician participates as a member of the Perioperative nursing team. The technician performs tasks that support clinical operations, with a primary focus on receiving, sorting, inventorying, decontaminating, and sterilizing surgical items. The Central Sterile Technician reports to the Clinical Director of Surgical and Obstetrical Services. Performs duties ensuring a hazard-free environment. May have additional physical or respiratory requirements. Must follow universal safety precautions. Exposure to hazards such as infections, chemicals, and workplace violence is possible.
