Description

Job Title: Central Sterile Technician - Central Sterile Reprocessing - Mount Sinai West - Full Time - Evening Shift

Provides sterilization and decontamination services to patient care departments


Responsibilities

1. Operates Sterilization units (Pre-vac and Sterrad unit)

2. Sterilizes Instruments sets and other reusable supplies and equipment

3. Performs the appropriate quality assurance checks on the sterilization units (Biological, Bowie Dick test, etc.)

4. Maintains records of quality assurance checks along with the sterilization records

5. Interprets Sterilization graphs/ printouts and other indicator. Report all problems to supervisor

6. Possesses knowledge of all supplies and equipment maintained in the CSPD

7. Maintains inventory of supplies

8. Informs supervisors of non-warehouse supplies to be reordered and complete the order of warehouse supplies

9. Distributes supplies and equipment to nursing care units or other departments when requested

10. Restocks shelving with delivered supplies

11. Maintains storage areas in an orderly manner

12. Collects, decontaminate, wrap, sterilize, and distribute supplies and equipment to patient care units

13. Cleans work surfaces, supply carts, storage areas, and departmental equipment as required

14. Cleans and maintain Sterilizers, washers and Ultra-Sonic cleaner

15. Checks expiration date and package integrity of sterile supplies during storage and before distribution

16. Complies with Universal Precaution policies and procedures while performing daily tasks


Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent. Requires knowledge of reading, writing, and math normally acquired through high school education.
  2. Current certification (CRCST) required
  3. 1-2 years sterile processing experience, with achievement of specific competencies
  4. Demonstrates ability to work well with others as part of a team.
  5. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and do basic mathematical calculations.
  6. Position requires flexible work schedule, weekends and holidays.
  7. Requires basic computer skills.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $24.04 - $26.15 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
