Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central Sterile Technician.

This role involves the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of instruments and patient care equipment. Responsibilities include restocking/exchanging crash carts, issuing supplies, operating sterilization equipment, and maintaining documentation for regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Performs other duties as assigned.
  2. Follows proper procedures for biological monitoring of sterilizers, ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory standards. Maintains sterilization and biological monitoring records, and verifies sterilizer parameters using chemical and biological indicators.
  3. Understands the functionality and appropriate use of the Sterrad Sterilization System, including precautions and compatibility of scopes and electronic equipment.
  4. Understands the operation of the Washer Decontaminator and chemical detergent dilutions.
  5. Handles and processes contaminated instruments and equipment appropriately.
  6. Identifies, ensures functionality, and prepares surgical instruments for all hospital services.
  7. Manages supply distribution properly.
  8. Restocks and exchanges crash carts as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED required. Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA) or Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD); provisional certification acceptable. Must complete 400 hours of hands-on training prior to certification expiration.

Required Licenses:

Sterile Proc & Dist-Cert CBSPD, Central Sterile Tech (HSPA)

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience in Central Service or Surgical Processing. Knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, infection control, and equipment processing. Familiarity with various surgical equipment and ability to identify and ensure accuracy of surgical instruments and supplies across multiple specialties.

Effective communication skills with all organizational levels are essential.
