Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center is seeking a Central Sterile Supply Tech to join our Sterile Processing team. You will inspect, decontaminate, assemble and sterilize instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with AAMI, AORN, TJC and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities include safe handling of department equipment, providing service to all departments, and documenting sterility checks daily. Must withstand a high-stress environment and work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
• Operate departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
• Provide customer service to all departments with a focus on patient needs.
• Process and document all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
• Monitor and perform antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
