Job summary

Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for decontamination, preparation and sterilization of trays and instruments. You will manage inventory, restock supplies, and perform computer data entry and charge card batching.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with two years' CST experience preferred. Central Supply certification and BLS are preferred. Per Diem schedule with variable shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years' experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate, preferred.
• Two years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required.

Responsibilities

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, equipment, inventory and restocking of supplies, computer data entry and patient charge card batching. Demonstrates knowledge of all department locations within facility and ability to access all departments. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
2. Two (2) years' experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
3. Central Supply Certified certification, preferred
4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate, preferred
5. Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):
6. At least two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required
7. Current BLS (AHA) certificate.
8. Central Supply Certified certification required
9. Central Supply Certified certification required within two years from date of hire at designated facilities

Pay Transparency

Mercy Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $22.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
