Position Summary

Supports Infection Control by collecting, cleaning, disinfecting, and distributing portable patient care equipment that has been properly prepared, documented, and inspected for bedside use in patient care.

Responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments for use in patient care by the surgical team in various departments, including Operating Rooms and Endoscopy.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into trays or packages for sterilization.
  2. Collect, clean, disinfect, and distribute patient care equipment and surgical instruments from clinical units, O.R., L&D, and other areas.
  3. Deliver patient care equipment, manage inventory of specialty carts, and replenish supplies for departments and centralized systems.
  4. Transport soiled and sterile surgical instrumentation between facilities (Marlton positions only).
  5. Operate, monitor, and document results of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
Qualifications
  • Previous sterile processing experience or formal training preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CRCST/CBSPD certification preferred; certification must be obtained within 6 months if completed a sterile processing course at an accredited institution.
