Introduction:

Day Kimball Health is hiring a Central Sterile Supply Technician (CSS Tech) to join our Central Sterile Supply Department! This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) on the day shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) in Putnam, CT.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director, CSS Tech II must meet advanced competencies of CSS Tech I. Responsibilities include routine instrument assembly and familiarity with complex instrumentation across various specialties such as laparoscopic, ENT, Gyn/OB, General, Urology, and Orthopedics. CSS Tech II may assist in orientation, precepting, and training other technicians and should be familiar with case cart processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Gain advanced knowledge of instruments through the entire CSS process: decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, and sterilization.
  • Develop expertise in case cart assembly and management.
  • Respond to OR requests via telephone and document requests follow-up.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Assist in monitoring quality indicators and maintain certification with a recognized agency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring all responsibilities are essential job functions unless noted otherwise.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Certified Central Processing Technician by a recognized agency.
  • Advanced knowledge of CSS processing functions.
  • Competency in handling complex instrumentation such as ENT, GYN/OB, laparoscopic, orthopedic, and urology instruments.
