Job Description
This team is responsible for assisting clinicians, residents, interns, and students during routine and emergency surgical procedures. You will instruct senior veterinary students in demonstrating and maintaining aseptic techniques before, during, and after large and small animal surgeries, with opportunities to scrub in at times. Must maintain daily flow of surgical operations to ensure availability of personnel and operating rooms for all procedures. This position orders and maintains supplies, performs central sterile procedures including cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies, and may assist in other areas as directed by supervisor. CSS department employees are essential and must report to work during inclement weather and authorized closings and are compensated with additional pay and/or compensatory leave. Position includes overnight, weekend, and holiday on-call time rotated throughout the team which is compensated with additional pay. Must be able to report within 30 minutes when on call.
Required Qualifications
Successful candidate must have experience in veterinary care of large and small animals; working knowledge of basic companion and large animal anatomy and physiology; experience in hospital central sterile supply (CSS) and operating rooms; ability to handle and restrain all species of animals; knowledge of surgical suite, CSS instrumentation and sterile technique; excellent communication skills; rabies prophylaxis required (provided by employer).
Preferred Qualifications
International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM), Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST), or eligible for completion within 12 months of hire.
Salary Information
Starting at $36,501.00, commensurate with experience
