Job description

The Central Sterile Processing (CSP) technician coordinates and fulfills the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies inventory, ordering, and management as needed for daily surgical procedures and related departments to run safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Learning and properly performing all aspects of sterile processing including safe handling of instruments.
  2. Understanding universal precautions and aseptic technique.
  3. Knowledge of sterilization methods, instruments' names and uses, types of procedures performed, and documentation requirements.
  4. Understanding each team member's role to assist in the safe and efficient care of patients.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience and/or LPN, CNA, CMA, COA preferred but not required.
  2. Central Service Sterile Processing certification and/or training may be expected within the appraisal period (90 days).
