Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to perform decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of trays, instruments, and equipment, and to manage inventory and restock supplies. The role requires accurate computer data entry and patient charge batching, with knowledge of all department locations within the facility.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years of Central Sterile experience, a Central Supply Certified

Qualifications

• Two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required; acute care hospital setting preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required for new hires.
• Central Supply Certified certification preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment.
• Inventory management and restocking of supplies; computer data entry and patient charge batching.
• Knowledge of all department locations within the facility and access to all departments.
• Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.
